About Us

You can read more about our back story below however we have decided to not make our crackers commercially and focus on our local consumers.

Paradise Found Food is hand-made with love.

OUR STORY

We began making and sharing healthy food since before we began our retreat space, Paradise Found. After years of tasting our recipes – many guests begged us to share them more widely. Finally, we did, starting with our crackers.

PEOPLE. PLANET. PURPOSE. PROFIT.

We wanted to be part of a business that is not only good for us but also the planet. With the awareness that a vegetarian diet helps lower CO2 gases (not to mention help break down factory-farming), it was also our intention to help create a more sustainable way of eating locally and organically, as much as possible.

With Social Venture in mind, we promised the evolution of our business would always operate from the Quadruple Bottom Line perspective. People. Planet. Purpose. Profit.

Another promise we made was:

100% satisfaction guaranteed!

If for any reason you weren’t happy with your purchase you can return the product to wherever you purchased it from with a short letter explaining your reasons why you are not happy with it and your name and address. We believe in our product and our customers valuable input. We wanted our customers to be happy with their purchase.

MORE OF OUR STORY

Our crackers first made their appearance when I realized that I had a physical reaction whenever I ingested bread. Looking for a substitute. I use quotations here for “gluten-intolerance” because: with more research over the years into the rashes, wheat in general and GMO food, I’m  inclined to believe it more to be, for me, a reaction to the pesticide glyphosate in our food systems.

As a Natural Health Consultant with over 3 decades in the field, I have some knowledge into these subjects and in the creation of these crackers, health was the number one priority. We are what we eat after all and they were a perfect addition to our healing retreats here at Paradise Found.

HIGH PROTEIN

A happy benefit was the ease and accessibility to a quality protein content for my husband who goes to the gym daily to lift weights. He eats the Super-Seed and Veggie Crackers nearly every day for lunch. Sometimes for breakfast and at dinner, too. We’re both happy to be able to eat something healthy that we can enjoy right away or take with us – anywhere.

Soon we were sharing our crackers with friends and family, then larger community potlucks. Everywhere we went people asked where they could buy them. We thought people were just being nice. It was when we’d share at larger events and business functions where we didn’t know anyone that we began to clue in to what was really happening. The crackers needed to be OUT THERE!

With support and encouragement from our fantastic, SSI Chamber of Commerce, we found a suitable Gluten Free designated kitchen, Laughing Daughters’ Bakery, which is unfortunately, now based in Vancouver. We took a hiatus as we all navigated the huge shifts on the planet. Now we’re looking forward to creating our healthy crackers once again for our local community and visitors. And if we all do it, that can translate into globally.

WE ARE WHAT WE EAT

We can choose “cheap”, processed, low-nutrition “food” and pay for it later by compromising our health, putting more stress on not only our bodies but also the health care system. We can spend $5 on a non-organic, non-free trade coffee in a disposable cup that jacks us up for a few hours.

Or we can choose to support ourselves, our food growers and providers, and the planet by making conscious choices about the real worth of what we’re putting into our bodies.

Ultimately, we’re living at a time of great transformation. All of our former systems are being challenged as we find new healthier, more sustainable ways of operating.

From government to schools to banking to housing to health, food and other resources – things are at a crisis. We MUST make changes now. And, it IS happening. We’re finally seeing that we’re all one interconnected planet.

Choosing to eat real food: local, organic, yada, yada, yada…. we can support this new transformation – as well as ourselves, our food growers and providers, and the planet – as we all ride the tumultuous wave of transformation.
